One of the greatest struggles for parents today is getting their young children to eat fruits and vegetables. It is difficult for parents to compete with the successful marketing tactics used by junk food companies. Kids are quickly lured in by fun and adventurous visual branding at very early ages. Little boys and girls beg their moms and dads to put these products in the grocery cart. It is often a losing battle for parents trying to convince their kids that boring broccoli is just as fun to eat as Lucky Charms or Cheetos.

For my B.F.A. Capstone Project, I created Kid's Flavorites: a brand of fresh produce that encourages kids and parents alike to discover fruits and vegetables as well as the qualities that make them interesting, healthy, and beneficial. My branding and packaging utilizes friendly farmer's market inspired typography, bright colors reminiscent of each food, and playful character illustrations to interest children. I created hang tags with a fun yet informative blurb to help children learn more about the food they are eating and promote interest in a healthy lifestyle. In addition, I filled the back panels of each label with health information to educate parents.

Lastly, I crafted a coloring book with educational puzzles and recipes to add another level of interactivity and learning with these foods. I believe that through these strategic touchpoints kids and parents will realize that eating healthy food can be an enjoyable family experience.
